Definitely one of the best place to eat in Birmingham. The menu changes every week. It's smart cooking at its very best!! And the staff are absolutely brilliant!!
I had the curried mushrooms on toast and fried egg.. the bread was just soaked at the bottom of the plate.. expecting sautéed mushroom with some curry sauce or flavour.. hash browns was nice and the beans.
Chai latte was ok.. service is good.. place is clean and tidy.. could do with cushions to sit on instead of just the ply boards.. I would come again but def not have the curried mushrooms.
There is a reason Caneat is packed out. The brunch selection is wonderful. The sourdough based offerings are sumptuous, zingy, combining a large range of complementary ingredients, with a touch of zest.
Staff are super busy at lunch times, but still seem to keep their composure. The clean lines of the spacious interior cater for all; there’s even an area for the kids to go wild and a garden area out back.
I've been here twice and both times the food has been incredible and the coffee is proper too. The chef and batista knows their stuff. You will see a few people have been unhappy with how crowded it can get... It's crowded for a reason! Most of the time it's absolutely fine though and the staff are lovely.
I find it's busy on Sunday morning but like I said... It's because it's good!
Great to eat at Caneat- busy on Sundays but worth it to wait.
Delicious option for a brunch. Products are fresh, local and well prepared. Staff is nice and friendly.
Few outdoor seatings available.
A veg and meat full english breakfast in this quirky eatery. Good choice of food, service was a little confused, breakfast was plentiful if a little messy to eat. I'd go again. Would recommend.
Such a terrible experience for my first time! This part of Birmingham is usually pretty 'indie' however the cafe itself had very basic interior and the garden was overgrown (I think purposely) but looked a bit of a wreck. The garden felt completely disconnected to the cafe and the poor waitresses had to keep walking up and down the steps and all the way back to the kitchen; they looked exhausted! I was served a rather expensive (At £6) small banana bread and peanut butter breakfast with a long hair straight through the middle of it. They replaced the food and as a good will gesture they served us a doughnut (which if I am honest did not taste good and was extremely dry!). The banana bread breakfast tasted GREAT though! Shortly after we had two coffees served to us, a capochino and a latte of which we had no sugar or sweetener provided. We requested these on the assumption we'd have a spoon to stir the coffee, we had to use a fork. Also assuming the coffee would be hot; this was not the case, they were stone cold. The waitress replaced the coffees but the second round of coffees were still cold, we were too embarrassed to tell the staff! We were very shocked (especially because of Covid) to witness staff handle baguettes in the cafe with their bare hands and a guy using the BBQ outside to turn meat over also using his bare hands. Why not use gloves or a spatular? Lucky to recieve one star as we recieved a shockingly bad service however the food did taste good and at least 1 staff member had a smile on their face.
